Maximum internal working pressures for fittings

The allowable pressure ratings for fittings designed in accordance with the standard ASME B 16.9–1993 may be calculated as for straight seamless pipe in accordance with the rules established in the applicable section of the ASME B 31 codes for pressure piping.

ASME B 31.4 Liquid transportation systems for hydrocarbons, liquid petroleum gas, anhydrous ammonia and alcohols
ASME B 31.5 Refrigeration piping
ASME B 31.1 Power piping
ASME B 31.3 Chemical plant and petroleum refinery piping
ASME B 31.8 Gas transmission and distribution piping systems

Hydrostatic testing for fittings

Hydrostatic testing of wrought fittings is not required. All fittings shall be capable of withstanding, without leakage, a test pressure equal to that prescribed in the specification for the pipe with which the fitting’s marking identifies.
